The thruth about Directory Submissions

Last week i was looking at my website stats to see what my main traffic source was and where I had some possibilities to improve my traffic.

The last 2 years I have been searching and creating backlinks to my site like a mad man, Directories, Social Networks, Blogs, Forums, you name it.

Because this is a very time consuming effort, I try to do a few submisions every day.

I opened an Excel sheet and looked at my list wiith 12000 directories. ( I know a lot are gone or just crap).

I started submitting, and suddenly, while visiting some directories, I just started laughing. ( I tell you why, in a few seconds)

Everyone that has a website claims to be the bomb, the best and a succes in his/her niche.

Who can blame them, we all want to make a few bucks right?

Some direcories dont allow free submissions, only paid or reciprocal but the thing that made me laugh was this:

Some directories ask a fee for a reciprocal, or for a regular listing, while they are in the high numbers on Alexa with low pr, and looking closer, almost no backlinks and traffic.

That made me laugh so hard that my wife came down the stairs to see if everything was alright.

I mean, how ignorant, arrogant and stupid must you be to really think that anyone in his right mind, will go for that. I mean you have to be a noob right?

I'm not saying that I know best but come on, think people.

How can you claim to be a decent directorie and that a listing in this directorie will help your ratings, if you dont have traffic yourself. Not to forget, asking a fee for a reciprocal!! You want a link and money at the same time, haha now thats funny.

Without credibility on the net, the link in this directory, will do you more harm then good.

I prefer to have 20 well listed, high pr, including my anchor text backlinks, then a few hundred crappy links.

I take quality over quantity anytime!

Think before you act and you'll be fine.
